until的用法：表示“直到……为止”,两者常可换用,只是 until 比 till稍正式,所以在正式文体中,一般用 until,而在口语或非正式文体中则两者都可用.从其后所接成分来看,till多与名词或较短的从句连用,而较长较复杂的成分多用 until,位于句首时也多用 until.

1、until的用法

until用于肯定句中时，句子的谓语动词必须是延续性动词。

eg: My teacher works in the office until 6 o’clock in the afternoon.

我的老师在办公室一直工作到下午6点。

在…not… until…句型中，主句的谓语动词要用终止性动词，如start，leave，arrive, finish, stop等，表示从句的动作完成，主句的动作才刚发生。

eg: The boy didn’t leave his room until he finished his homework.

小男孩做完作业才离开房间。

当主句使用一般将来时态时，until引导的从句用一般现在时。

eg: He won’t give up until you tell him the truth.

在你告诉他真相之前，他是不会放弃的。

2、The traffic laws don't take effect until the end of the year
